Why was York chosen for the 2005 venue ? Royal Ascot FAQ
While Ascot, Berkshire was undergoing a major facelift, York hosted the 2005 venue because of its proven ability to
stage major flat racing festivals, the standard of the track and the facilities for racegoers. In addition, York is
a well-appointed city with excellent transport links. The venue returned to it's Berkshire home in 2006.
Are there any incentives for groups ? Royal Ascot FAQ
There is a special group booking incentive for groups of 16 or more people attending the Grandstand and
York Enclosure offering, offering free minibus / coach parking and one free entrance ticket for the group organiser.
Please note that all applications for 16 or more tickets must be submitted in writing.
What are the prices for the public enclosures ? Royal Ascot FAQ
Admission to the main Grandstand Enclosure will be £50 per person, plus parking, while tickets for the Yorkshire
Course Enclosure will cost £18 per person, plus parking. Charge for parking will be made to recover costs of a safe, enabled
parking plan which guarantees booked space and security, priced to reflect proximity to destination. Prices start
at £5.

Which enclosures allow paddock access ? Royal Ascot FAQ
Visitors in the Royal Enclosure and Grandstand Enclosure will have access to the Paddock, including the Winner's
Enclosure and Parade Ring. Grandstand ticket holders can reach the Paddock using the walkway behind the main Grandstand or by walking along the
path adjacent to the running rail in front of the Royal Enclosure. There is no access to the Paddock from the
Yorkshire Course Enclosure or Rails Enclosure.

A Royal Procession is planned to open proceedings on all five days of the Royal Meeting, as is traditional at
Royal Ascot.

Ascot aims to provide an accessible environment for all racegoers, particularly older people, people with disabilities
and those with young children. Their 'Access for All' policy includes provision of the following:

Are children admitted free ? Royal Ascot FAQ
Accompanied children aged 16 and under are admitted free to all enclosures, except the Royal Enclosure where
special restrictions apply.
What are the catering arrangements ? Royal Ascot FAQ
A range of public catering facilities and bars will be available in the Grandstand and Yorkshire Course enclosures
offering a wide variety of hot and cold food and beverages. All inclusive hospitality packages are also
available, "Lunch on the Hoof" packages can be pre-ordered with Ascot
Hospitality for collection on the day. There will be a Royal Enclosure badge holder's marquee.
What betting facilities are there ? Royal Ascot FAQ
The main places to bet are the totepool windows located throughout the Racecourse or with the bookmakers, who are
located in the betting ring in front of the stands in the Grandstand and Yorkshire Course Enclosures. The latest
bookmaker odds and totepool prices are displayed on television screens around the racecourse. To find out more about
betting with totepool, please refer to the race programme or visit one of the tote information points located in
each enclosure.
What are the rules on photography ? Royal Ascot FAQ
Photography is generally allowed but it is not permitted in the Paddock or Royal Enclosure. Racegoers are welcome
to take photographs in all other areas for personal use only and strictly not for publication. Please also avoid
flash photography near the horses.
