Sega Royal Ascot horse racing games machine

This ia a horse racing simulator machine that contains everything similar to the normal full sized outdoor Royal Ascot racetrack has. There are 12 betting booths, a racetrack where plastic toy horses run around the track.

All the racing action is shown on a giant central screen and players place their bets and then the race is on. Players can view the race on the miniature replica race track or on the big screen.

Product Details

The Sega Royal Ascot race includes six horses and jockeys and players can bet for a horse to win or go for the quinella - the first two horses to finish. The race is featured on the machine's 50" projection display monitor in real time and on the detailed track in the middle of the betting stations, while an announcer calls the race and the results. The machine runs a game approximately every one and a half minutes and there are millions of possible races.

The Sega Royal Ascot machine came into production around 1992 and has several upgrades which are shown in the pictures. Some of the earlier machines have had their codes cracked and some of these cheats are featured on other pages.

The latest machines cost around $40,000 dollars US although prices will vary.

Comments on gambling

Sega Royal Ascot racing games machines involve betting money not on real, live animals whose performances are dependent on any number of factors from diet to breeding to just plain luck, but on little plastic virtual horses whose performances are determined solely by a computer which perhaps not coincidentally is the very same computer that just took the money you bet on the aforementioned little plastic virtual horses. Gambling can become addictive.

Hugely popular in Australia

Royal Ascot has turned into a hugely popular product for its maker Sega Gaming and Skycity Adelaide is lucky enough to have had one of these machines installed since 1993.

It's a hilarious game to watch - Sega Royal Ascot has a minimum bet of $1.00 with up to six horses running in each race that are selected from the 50 available. With odds that vary like a normal horse race, up to 12 players station themselves around the track and make their bets for the win or a quinella (successfully picking the first and second placed horses).

The game that creates a great atmosphere inside the casino, if you hear cries of "Go you you beauty!" you know it's the Royal Ascot punters urging on their charges.
